A beautiful and meaningful welcome to new life and bright beginnings

Naming and Welcome Ceremonies

Welcome your little one, or new name, with all the love in our hearts

A naming ceremony is one of the most joyful things I get to be part of. It’s a gathering of all the people who already love your joyous bundle of goodness and will grow to love them more, coming together to celebrate a new life and the family that holds it.

Choosing a new name for yourself holds powerful significance for a whole new beginning in life. It’s a beautiful gathering of all the people who love and celebrate the person you have become.

It doesn't have to be religious. It doesn't have to follow any particular tradition. It just has to feel like yours.

What We Can Include

    Naming and Promises

The heart of the ceremony is officially welcoming your child by name, or you, by your new chosen name, and making promises: from parents, from partners, from chosen guardians or guideparents, from close friends and from the wider family gathered. These can be serious, heartfelt, funny or all three.

    Guideparents and Special Roles

Not everyone uses the word "godparent." I can incorporate whatever language and roles feel right for your family and your beliefs, without any religious connotations unless you want them.

    Readings, Music and Ritual

A poem read by a grandparent. A song that has followed your family for years. A grounding ritual to connect your child, or your new self, to the earth. Perhaps a piece of music, or a song, which gives particular significance to this transitional time of life. We can create a ritual which gives deep meaning to you and those present. All of it can be woven in naturally and lovingly.

    Siblings and Wider Family

I love creating moments that welcome and honour siblings. Blended families, large extended families, chosen families: all are welcome, all are celebrated and all will feel part of the story.

All in a Name

Renaming Ceremonies

Names matter. They hold identity, belonging and the way we recognise ourselves in the world.
Sometimes the name given to us at birth no longer reflects who we truly are. Choosing a new name can be a deeply meaningful step — one that deserves to be witnessed and celebrated.
A renaming ceremony creates space for that moment.
It may be part of a gender transition, a spiritual journey, a reclaiming of identity, or simply a name that feels more truthful and empowering.
Together we can design a ceremony that feels safe, affirming and joyful — surrounded by the people who support and celebrate you.
Your story will be honoured, and your chosen name welcomed with love and respect.

How It Works

We start with a free conversation where I get to know you and your story and what you want the ceremony to feel like. I'll send you a planning guide to help gather the details that matter.

From there, I write your ceremony script and we refine it together, making it truly meaningful to you and the new beginning you are celebrating!
On the day I’ll arrive early and make sure everything is ready. You can fully enjoy your ceremony stress free!

Booking Details

  • Logomark-Short-Golden-Earth

How far in advance should I book?

As early as you can. Summer dates in particular fill quickly, and booking early means we can start the creative work together without any pressure. That said, I'll always do my best if you're working to a shorter timeline, so please do get in touch.

  • Logomark-Short-Golden-Earth

    What's the payment process?

Half the fee is due on booking to secure your date. The remaining half is due on receipt of your first ceremony draft, usually around six months before the event.

  • Logomark-Short-Golden-Earth

    Do you travel outside Wales?

Yes. I cover the whole of the UK and I'm happy to travel abroad. I love all the rural and remote corners of this country, from Cornwall to Scotland, and I'm always excited by a destination ceremony. Travel costs over 30 miles from SA34 are 50p per mile, and accommodation may apply for longer distances. My campervan can be a wonderful option.

Working Together

  • Logomark-Short-Golden-Earth

What happens at the first meeting?

We arrange a free, no-obligation chat (video call or in-person) to get to know each other, talk through your vision and see if we're a good fit. There's no pressure and no commitment. I genuinely love meeting people and hearing their stories.

  • Logomark-Short-Golden-Earth

How does the ceremony script get written?

After you've booked, I'll send you a ceremony planning guide and a short questionnaire about your story. You fill it in, we have a follow-up conversation and from there I write your script. You'll receive a draft to review and approve, and we'll refine it together until it's exactly right.

  • Logomark-Short-Golden-Earth

Can we stay in touch throughout the process?

Absolutely. I'm happy to create a WhatsApp group so we can share ideas freely and keep communication easy and fun all the way through.

  • Logomark-Short-Golden-Earth

    What happens on the day?

I arrive early, connect with your venue team, photographer and any other contributors, and make sure everything is ready and as stress-free as possible for you. I'll be present, focused and calm so you can simply enjoy every single moment.

  • Logomark-Short-Golden-Earth

Can you accommodate guests with accessibility needs or neurodiverse guests?

Yes I'll always work with you to ensure your ceremony works for everyone attending. If there are specific needs to consider, please mention them early and we'll find the right approach together.

What if we have a multicultural ceremony or mixed-faith families?

This is very much where I thrive. My background in Comparative Religions means I have genuine respect for all traditions, and I love weaving elements from different cultures together thoughtfully and beautifully.

A Few Questions About Naming Ceremonies

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a newborn naming ceremony a legal document?

No. It's a celebration rather than a legal registration. Your child's birth registration happens separately at the register office. Parents must register the birth within 42 days at a local register office or hospital. This is necessary for the child to receive a birth certificate, which is required for various official purposes.

Does renaming an adult in ceremony produce a legal document?
